Most guitarists and pannists play music purely by "ear", having invested a great deal of time memorising predetermined melodies and chord changes. Usually this is done without fully knowing what they are really doing musically. This approach tends to prevent the most talented players from achieving true musical excellence.
One cannot assume that all music can be explained by simple theorectical formulae; this will leave no room for freedom of expression and inspiration. However there are a number of established principles which musicans follow.
With this in mind, the basic weakness of many guitarists and pannists has been addressed by offering them Theory, Ear Training and Harmony, as well as Scales, Melodic Patterns and Chord Progressions.
This publication deals with these principles in a scientific yet simple way, with the aid of specialised forms, formats and charts. It is hoped that the topics will satisfy their needs as well as those of music teachers.
